The clubs

It is the year in which Apollo XI sets off on his journey to the moon and the student unrest spills over to Prague and Spain, when the bc Club is founded in 1969 at the Technische Hochschule Ilmenau. In the meantime, Mars is being explored more closely, employees demonstrate, Ilmenau is a university town and the days when bc guests had to leave their identity card number at the entrance are also over. The bc club's claim to distance itself from the ubiquitous chart music and to cover a wider range of music - especially niche areas - and to always be open to new things has remained. With numerous performances by national and international bands, the bc has made a name for itself as a live club in Ilmenau; in addition to the club concerts, DJ performances, readings and theme evenings are also an integral part of the programme. The cultural spectrum of the bc also extends to monthly events such as film evenings ("cinema with living room atmosphere") or the wine evening, where the bc turns into a small "bodega" on the first Sunday of every month. The bc club not only has the right atmosphere for celebrating, but also offers a cosy ambience for extended conversations thanks to its many seating arrangements. Completely run and supported by volunteer members - mainly students - everyone at the bc can contribute and implement their ideas and thus help shape student life in Ilmenau.

Students who love to party run a nightclub - what could possibly go wrong?
In addition to all the parties, we are a large community that spends its free time volunteering at the club to keep this location open for ourselves and our guests. Many continue to help at the club even after they graduate, or simply join us from Ilmenau without being students. After all, what could be better than coming to the club on the weekend and seeing your best friends there?

Of course, all of this means a lot of work. We need to run the stations admission, beer, bar and also DJ, all so that we are open and you as a guest can come to party. This involves a lot of cleaning, preparation, and planning for events. But, fun always comes first.

Oldest club on campus. Long parties. A wide range of cocktails. Delicious cuisine. One of the most comprehensive whisky offers in Germany. The bi-club offers you all this. In addition, there is much more: songwriters, live bands, cabaret artists, comedians, motto parties. The list can be continued at will. We have aroused your interest? Monday, Wednesday and Friday our doors are open for you. Is that not enough for you? Then get active yourself. Everyone who would like to help is welcome. Just talk to us, or come to our club meeting on Tuesdays at 21:00.

The bc student café has been in existence since 1987 and we share the premises in the basement of the C block with the bc student club. As the only student café on the Ilmenau campus, we offer a cosy atmosphere that invites you to take a coffee break between lectures. A variety of hot and cold drinks, delicious cake, current magazines and daily newspapers as well as a wide range of games guarantee distraction from the stress of university life. Almost every first Sunday of the month, the café offers the traditional all-you-can-eat brunch to all those who stayed here. Regular evening events (e.g. Night Café or Festa Caipi) from the areas of culture, party and entertainment demonstrate our ability to celebrate. We are looking forward to your visit!
